Nancy Gleason

Piano/Voice Teacher

Nancy Gill Gleason is a lifelong singer, pianist, song-writer and music lover. She began studying piano at the age of 8 and fell in love with the “American Standards” of the 1930’s and 40’s. Her first stage role, at 14, was as Daisy Mae in the musical adaptation of Li’l Abner in Western Junior High in Greenwich, CT.

She studied voice and piano privately throughout high school, gaining experience in classic musicals like West Side Story and The Me Nobody Knows. At Boston College, she led a team of aspiring songwriters and performers to win the Annual School of Education Skits for 2 years in a row as a Freshman and Sophomore. Nancy also sang as a soloist with the Boston College Jazz Band. After moving to NYC post-graduate, Nancy studied piano with Richard Shirk, Linda Babits and Nancy Milano. Nancy Milano inspired her to do more composing and singing. In 2008, Nancy began attending Kean University full time as a Music Education major. Nancy did her student teaching in the music departments in Garwood and Linden, NJ, and completed her vocal studies at Kean in 2014.

One of Nancy’s favorite teaching experiences was with her Daisy Girl Scout Troop, where they created their own lyrics and choreography for the Girl Scout Song at Camp Hoover. She has taught everything from corporate email compliance to Weight Watchers, and definitely most enjoys sharing her love of music with children. Nancy and her husband Scott have lived in Westfield for over 23 years. Both of them enjoyed being in a half dozen Washington School Shows, and their two daughters attended Westfield Public Schools where they were in numerous bands, musicals, marching band, and choral groups.
