Group Class Policies

Welcome to Valencia School of Music’s Group Classes!  Please review the policies below for your reference. All students who participate in group classes are responsible to know these policies.

All group classes are year round unless otherwise notified. Any student who wishes to discontinue from a group class must inform the school in writing by the 20th of the month before they wish to stop. This includes breaks for summer activities.

Rock-U Sr. Policies

Welcome to Valencia School of Music’sRock-U Senior Ensemble Program!  Please review the policies below for your reference.  All students who sign up for Rock-U Bands are responsible to know these policies.  The Rock-U Senior Band program is one of the top ensemble programs in the area.  Students are invited to play out at a number of events throughout the year.  The busiest months for performances are September, October, June and July.  There are also mandatory performances in December and April/May each year.

This program was developed to give students a real view of playing and performing in a band.

Tuition is $120 per month for students in at least one weekly half hour lesson with Valencia Music.  Tuition is $150 per month for students who are not taking lessons with Valencia School of Music.  All tuition for group classes are billed as a flat rate.  This tuition includes classes and performances.  Tuition is not prorated due to missed classes, or months with less than four classes. Please note that performances count toward class dates.

Should a student take a break for a month or to discontinue, that spot will be offered to new incoming students and will not receive a credit for any portion of unused tuition already paid. STUDENTS WHO DISCONTINUE WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN PERFORMANCES AFTER THE LAST CLASS THAT COVERS THEIR TUITION

All tuition is deducted on the first of the month. No tuition will be refunded. Classes will not be prorated for any reason

Students are expected to be present for all performances unless permission to miss a performance is granted in writing, via email.  Skipping a performance without clearing it at least a month ahead of time when possible could lead to being removed from the band.  Students are not permitted to take a leave of absence in the event of participation in programs such as marching band or sports.

Students participating in other activities are permitted to miss two rehearsals and one performance per school year due to other activities.  Students who are involved with music at another music school may not miss a performance with their Valencia School of Music Rock-U band to participate in an other performance.  If students perform with another group instead of their band they will be removed from the program.  Students who are not available for more than two shows over the year for any reason other than medical leave or illness will be replaced in their group.  Those who must take leave due to illness will be temporarily replaced with a student or teacher substitute while they are out.

Students may ask teachers or another student in a different band  to cover their part  for a missed show.  Once a student cancels for a performance and a replacement is confirmed, they will not be permitted to perform at that show, even if they become available.

Community performance opportunities may arise throughout the year.  We will notify families via Google Calendar events.  Students should respond directly to the event.  Any students who do not respond within 48 hours will be marked as not available.  Any student unavailable for more than two shows per year may be removed and replaced in the group.

Classes will start on time.  If a student is running late they should come into the class when they arrive.  Class attendance is mandatory for the bands, and students may not miss more than four rehearsals per school year.

Submission of payment information and agreeing to the class tuition is indication that you accept these policies as written.

KidzRock/Rock-U Jr. Policies

Welcome to Valencia School of Music’s Rock-U Jr. and KidzRock Programs!  Please review the policies below for your reference.  All students who sign up for Rock-U Bands are responsible to know these policies.

Rock-U Jr. Classes are split into levels A and B.  Level A Classes are generally for students ages 7-9 and Level B are generally for students ages 10-12.  Some students may in a group outside of their average age for various reasons.  If you have questions about your child’s placement in their group, please email valenciamusicnj@gmail.com for more information.

KidzRock Classes are split into 4-5 year olds and 6-7 year olds.

Tuition is $140 per month for KidzRock or Rock-U Jr. for students and is billed as a flat rate.  This tuition includes classes and performances.  Tuition is not prorated due to missed classes, or months with less than four classes. Classes are $45 each and the proration is based on an annual rate of at least 35 classes and three performances. This allows built-in cancellations for both the school and the student in the event of unforeseen situations. Performances count toward class date counts per year. Instances, where the school is closed or chose not to bill for classes, have already been factored into tuition.

We did build in two unexpected cancellations for classes for either snow or other unplanned occurrences.  If they are unused, students are not billed for them, but receive them for no additional charge. These classes can be canceled for any reason during the year. Students also have six missed classes factored into tuition for the school year.  Students who exceed their missed class credits will not be eligible for credits for additional missed classes.

Rock-U Jr. Classes may have up to ten members, and every student might not play/perform on every song.  KidzRock Classes may have up to 6 members.

Should a student take a break for a month or discontinue, that spot will be offered to new incoming students and will not receive a credit for any portion of the unused month’s tuition already paid.

Classes will not be prorated for any reason, and canceled classes may not be credited to private lessons.

Submission of payment information and subsequent payment of the class tuition is an indication that you accept these policies as written.

Students will have 3-4 performances each year.  Performance dates will be communicated to enrolled students.
